Creating a test manually

The simple way to create a test is to record it so that the test is generated automatically, but, if you can also create an empty test and add each element manually.

About this task

You can either create a test for a single test extension or you can choose multiple test extensions and generate a single test out of it.

Procedure

  1. Click File > New > New Test.
  2. Select a project under which you want to create the test and specify a name for the test.
  3. Click Next, specify a description of the test, and click Next.
  4. Click the extension that you want to test. If you have installed multiple test extensions, all the extensions are displayed. To generate a single test for multiple extensions, select multiple extensions.
  5. Optional: For a HTTP test, enter the name of the host, set the options for the test, and click Next.
  6. In the New test summary window, inspect your selections, and then click Finish. The test editor opens.
  7. Optional: After creating a blank test, if you want to add more test extensions to it, in the Test Contents area, click the root node and then in the Test Details area click the Advanced tab. In Test Features, click Add, select the test extensions to add and click OK.

What to do next

In the test editor, click Add, add an application node, click Change Application and add an application. Use the Add and Insert buttons in the test editor to add various elements to the test.
