Installing the product using stand-alone installer

To get started with the testing products, install the product software using the stand-alone installer.

Before you begin

  • You must have installed JDK 1.8 on your machine. For more information about downloading and installing JDK, see Java SE Development Kit 8. Based on the operating system, the JDK format might vary.
  • You must uninstall any older version of this product software.
  • If you want to install the HCL OneTest™ UI on Linux machine, the following libraries must be available on your machine.
    • libstdc++.so.6
    • libXp.so.6
    • libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0
    • libXtst.so.6
    • libXt.so.6
    • libstdc++.so.5
    • libXft.so.2
    • libXm.so.4

About this task

The system requirements mentioned in the FNO portal provides more information about the software and hardware requirements. The product installer does not support the following:
  • Updating, modifying or rolling back
  • Integration with Visual Studio for HCL OneTest UI
  • All 32 bit test extensions such as SAP, Citrix, and Siebel are not supported for HCL OneTest Performance Agent
Note:
  • 64 bit installer HCL OneTest UI and Performance for Windows and Linux supports sharing of components between HCL OneTest UI and HCL OneTest Performance.
  • Shell sharing is supported for HCL OneTest UI and HCL OneTest Performance and the single installer HCL OneTest UI and Performance is available in the HCL License & Delivery Portal. Uninstallation might interrupt the shell sharing and you will not be able to use the product.

Procedure

To install the product software on Windows or Linux machine, refer to the following steps:

  1. Download the product installer from the HCL License & Delivery Portal.
    Note: If you want to install both the products namely HCL OneTest UI and HCL OneTest Performance on your machine, instead of using two installers of the products, download single shell-shared HCL OneTest UI and Performance installer available in the HCL portal.
  2. Right-click the exe file and click Run as Administrator.
    • For installing the product software on the Linux machine, log in as root user. From the command prompt, execute the following command:

      755 <filepath/filename.bin>

  3. On the Introduction screen, read through the details, and click Next.
  4. Read the license agreement carefully and select the I accept check box. Click Next to continue.
  5. Select the installation directory where install folder is created. By default, the installer gets installed in the C drive. To select a different directory, click Choose. The default installation directory is as follows:
    • Windows: C:\Program Files\HCL.
    • Linux: /opt/HCL.
    Click Next to continue.
  6. Select the JDK. If one or more JDKs are available on your machine, then the installer will list the JDKs. To select a JDK, do one of the following:
    • To select a JDK from the list, click Click Java Executable.
    • To select a JDK from another location, click Select Another Location.
    After you select a JDK, click Next to continue.
    Note: You must download and install the appropriate JDK based on the operating system.
  7. Read through the installation details and click Install.
  8. After the installation is complete, click Done.
