Installing the product silently

In silent mode, you can install the product automatically without manual intervention. This mode of installation is helpful when you want to deploy the product in a large network.

Before you begin

  • You must have installed JDK/JRE 8 on your machine. For more information about downloading and installing JDK, see Java SE Development Kit 8.
  • You must have installed 64-bit OS.
    Note: On a 32-bit Windows OS, you can install only 32-bit stand-alone HCL OneTest™ Performance.
  • The installation folder must be empty if you are reinstalling the product.

Procedure

To install the product software silently, do the following:

  1. Run the command prompt as an administrator.
    Note: To install the product on Linux, log in as a root user.
  2. Change to the directory where you have downloaded the .exe file. To change the directory:
    • On Windows: Downloads\<directory path>. For example, Downloads\HCL-OneTest-Performance-Windows-x86-v9.5.exe_9.5.0.v20190110_0440
    • On Linux: Downloads\<directory path>. For example, ./root/Downloads/HCL-OneTest-Performance-Agent-Linux-x64-v9.5.bin_9.5.0.v20190111_0109
  3. Unzip the downloaded file. To unzip the downloaded file, perform the following:
    • On Windows: Extract the zip file HCL-OneTest-<Product Name>-Windows-x64-v9.5.exe_9.5.0.v20190307_0351.zip.
    • On Linux: Enter the command unzip <zip file name> For example, unzip HCL-OneTest-UI-and-Performance-Linux-x64-v9.5.bin_9.5.0.v20190307_0742.zip
    Note: On Linux, you must change the mode before installing the software. To change mode, enter the following command: chmod 755 HCL-OneTest-Performance-Agent-Linux-x64-v9.5.bin
  4. Enter the command for installing the product.
    • On Windows: "HCL-OneTest-<Product name>-Windows-x64-v9.5.exe" -i silent
    • On Linux: ./"HCL-OneTest-<Product name>-Linux-x64-v9.5.bin" -i silent
    The product is installed on your machine. If the installation is terminated due to any reason, you must check the Installerror.txt to know more about the problem that occurred during the installation process. The error log is available in the following path for:
    • Windows: C:\Users\<User name>\AppData\Local\Temp\HCLOneTest\Logs
    • Linux: USER_HOME/HOT-UI-PERF/Logs
